Dogs Day Out
He’s my weekend warrior, always down for a good time, and very hairy. And he is my dog, Ozark. We found him at a trail head in Arkansas in the Ozark Mountains — hence the name — when he was about one month old. Pointy eared, brindle, and 95-pounds, our dog is a lovable tank looking to greet and lick any passer-by. His afternoon naps are crucial for his sanity, but he would rather be out and so would we! Yes, there are many places with a few small seats out front to sit with your dog, but finding a place where your pup feels really welcome can be hard. No worries, though, I’ve got your back! Ozark and I have been doing our very hard, very serious research and here our favorite spots:
Two Tides Brewing Co.
Find Starland Yard and you will find the narrow staircase that leads to this brewery that perches on the second floor of an old home. Dogs are welcome inside — which is filled with little rooms to tuck into and comfortable couches to lounge with your beer — and two porches outside, so there are plenty of spaces to spread out. Treats and a communal dog bowl full of cool water greets each dog as they walk in. Ozark is always treated so kindly here and if he could speak I think he would call this place his fave.
Henny Penny Art Space & Cafe
A close second is Henny Penny which is in walking distance of our house so we come here frequently. Dogs are welcome inside and the cold floors and Beggin’ Bacon Strips are a doggy crowd pleaser. Grab a coffee, baguette sandwich, or pastry at this funky cafe slash art space with your dog by your side. I typically opt for their cafe au lait or cold brew.
Hop Atomica
Hop Atomica is a sister to Southbound Brewing Co. and the only operating distillery in Savannah as of July 2025. Dogs are not allowed inside but fear not! There is a very convenient ordering window accessible from their outdoor seating area. The water station outside surrounded by shaded picnic tables is perfect to refill your pup’s dog bowl on those hot summer days. As for the food, the wood-fired pizzas and wings are some of the bests in the city, so your dog can chill outside while you enjoy a great meal.
Service Brewing Co.
The cold concrete floors are a favorite of any dog in the summer. This veteran-owned local brewery has rotating food trucks outside and a great tap list. They also frequently have live music, games at the ready, and a few dart boards to keep you entertained. Close to River Street, this is a downtown hot spot with amazing beer. Come on Thursdays for Run Club if your dog needs to get their wiggles out before sitting down for a cold one.
Foxy Loxy Cafe
I haven’t found many coffee shops that allow dogs inside, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that one of my favorites was dog friendly. They also have a large, gravely patio in the backyard with fans and plenty of shade, which is especially pleasant on Saturday evenings for their half-priced bottles of wine and campfire s’mores night! I come for their matcha — which is $2.00 on Matcha Monday — and Texas vibes. And Ozark comes for the AC and attention so we both leave happy.
The Wyld
Overlooking the water is the casual and approachable outdoor eatery, The Wyld. Just outside of downtown Savannah, this is the perfect spot for a great southern, seafood style meal when you want to bring along your dog. The oystershell lined shore and seagulls floating overhead as you throw back a few oysters and sip an icy beer is the perfect way to spend your time this summer. Oh, and don’t forget the dog because they are very much invited here.
