My Favorite Asian Restaurants in Savannah
Restaurants at times can feel like a growing being — they have a wispy rebellious faze, a moody faze, perhaps an experimental faze, and then maybe (hopefully) they come around to stability where their voice is unwavering and strong, their future bright. But, as a local in a small city with limited restaurants we cannot always avoid these emotional rollercoasters and must weather those storms, ride those triumphant waves, with them. In a city like New York you can avoid said restaurant until they've “worked the kinks out” as we always like to say of new restaurants but in a small town like Savannah that’s simply not the case, there is no place to hide.
All of that is to say that from my time in Savannah thus far, these restaurants below have found their legs and have garnered respect and drooling followers alike.
E-Tang
If you ask anyone in Savannah where the best Chinese food they will without hesitation say E-Tang. The owners, hailing from New York City, have expanded from their original E-Tang Chinese Restaurant on Oglethorphe into E-Tang Dim Sum and E-Tang Noodle and Hot Pot. All are legit, fast, and leave you hungry for more.
2. Ukiyo
For a more elevated experience, try Ukiyo in the Starland District. Cozy up to the bar or chef’s table if you’re feeling social or tuck yourself into on of the many tables in throughout the beautiful restaurant. The team here focuses on sushi, noodles, and other Asian inspired bites which, paired with one of their unique cocktails or sake juice boxes, are bound the lead you to a good time.
3. Klom Klom Thai
I am a Thai food addict and when I moved to Savannah my first mission was to find my favorite Thai restaurant and I think I have! Owned by the same people who run the much loved PJ’s Thai in downtown Savannah (another great option if you’re craving Thai and want to stay close to the city), this strip mall secret is the perfect small space with big flavor. Venturing to Klom Klom would require a quick drive but I assure you it’s worth the very small effort.
