Late Night Food in Savannah
Although Savannah sees flocks of bachelorette parties, weddings, and celebrations, we are not necessarily known as a late night city. In fact, our nickname is Slow-vannah after all, so you can imagine that there are not many late night bite options, but that doesn’t keep people — and by people I mean me — from trying to seek them out.
What I found were quiet streets lurking with hungry college students on a budget and tired line cooks lining up at the same few places that seem to have heard the pleas and cries for snacks after dark. These places are keeping it simple, doing it right, and feeding this city when they need it the most!
The Cuban Window
One of our very first nights in our new townhouse, my boyfriend and I went to a local pub for a beer and a bite only to find out that the kitchen was closed. I’m really not one of those girls that can pretend I’m not hungry and although beer may be considered liquid bread, it just wasn’t going to cut it. Luckily, the bartender knew of a place down the street next to a gas station of all places, so we began our trek down the inky, dimly-lit Duffy Street until we saw a bright pink sign that was, yes, neighboring a rather I’m-never-coming-here-alone gas station. Despite all of the initial tentativeness, the Cuban sandwich was delicious!
Open until 2AM Thursday - Saturday
2. McDonough’s
For awhile I was genuinely put off by this sticky floor, dark bar but I’ve been proven wrong multiple times. Don’t go to McDonough’s expecting a high-end bar but do go for the late night food served until 2AM, the karaoke at 9PM every night, and the good times.
Kitchen open until 2AM
3. Boomy’s Bar
Located downtown and proudly serving authentic Thai and Vietnamese cuisine until 2AM! I let you be the judge of the authenticity but I can definitely vouch for their pho which is everything you need to wake up without a hangover tomorrow.
Kitchen open until 2AM
4. Savoy Society
Listen, as someone approaching their thirties who is desperately trying to embrace adulthood while still not able to break eye contact with my rambunctious early twenty years, Savoy Society meets me in that weird grey area. The tropical décor shoots you out of the city and into vacation mode with the menu following suite. They switch to a condensed late night menu at 10PM which keeps all of the fan favorites include their sliders, tot-chos, and flatbreads.
Kitchen open until 12:30AM
5. Fancy Parkers
I’m not going to lie, I was pretty skeptical when I first moved to Savannah but it’s an institution in this city and rightfully so. This 24/7 fancy gas station has everything you need to soak up that pickle back shot you swore you wouldn’t take. They have pre-made wraps and sandwiches, a hot bar with fried chicken, or perhaps feel daring and try the cheesy egg casserole — not my thing but you do you. If you’re like me and you like to ease your guilt of over-drinking, they even have a build-your-own salad station that staff will toss together for you. Don’t forget to place your order and then pay before you can grab your food from the hot counter or they’ll give you “the look” and you’ll feel bad and awkward.
Open all day and all night (yeah, you heard me right)
6. Treylor Park Hitch
Treylor Park has a few locations throughout the city, but Hitch is reinventing the classics and putting their own funky spin on the menu. From fried Oreos to peanut butter and jelly chicken wings, they have what you need for any late night hankerings and a fun bar to keep the cocktails flowing.
Kitchen open until 12AM
